Mats Guldbrand, former head of equities at AMF Pension, has joined the investment committee of the Swedish pension fund for architects, Arkitekternas Pensionskassa.

Its chief executive officer, Maritha Lindberg, said it was inspiring to have someone with such a long experience of investment management coming aboard. Mr Guldbrand retired last year and left AMF Pension after 17 years at the firm.

  • Denmark’s €6.25bn Industriens Pension is looking for a new chief financial officer, but would not disclose when an appointment would be made. In December, Jan-Ole Hansen, the previous CFO, left the fund abruptly. He has yet to join another firm.

  • Icelandic bank Kaupthing has made two appointments to its Norway offices. Inger Lise Egeland has been named managing director for Kaupthing Norway. Before joining the bank in 2006, she was senior vice-president of finance at Aker ASA. Mark Carey was also made deputy managing director at Kaupthing Norway. He will be responsible for capital markets. Mr Carey was previously head of equities at the bank, and will retain this role. The appointments follow the departure of Jan Petter Sissener, who had been the previous managing director for Norway. Kaupthing said Mr Sissener resigned for “personal reasons”, but, reportedly, he left due to problems with management. He has also reportedly threatened to purchase Kaupthing Norway in six months’ time.

  • Mercer has hired a new principal for its Stockholm office. Eric Gelfgren joins from SEB Asset Management, but he has also held roles at Citibank and Svenska Handelsbanken. The appointment comes amid a series of international hirings for Mercer. At the time of Mr Gelfgren’s nomination, the firm added five other personnel to its London, Toronto, Melbourne and Tokyo offices.
  • Finanssektorens Pensionskasse, the Danish pension fund for financial sector employees, has promoted its finance director Søren Schjødt-Hansen to deputy director. Mr Schjødt-Hansen became finance director in 2007, when the fund reorganised and established a new finance department. Prior to that, he was chief investment officer and has had responsibility for the fund’s investments since joining in 1998.
