- AE Kassa, the Finnish Pharmacy Pension Fund, has appointed Tommi Mäkelä as investment manager. The fund’s investments are currently solely managed by Kari Joutsa, managing director. Mr Mäkelä joins from Alko’s pension fund.
- Aberdeen Property Investors has appointed Jon Lekander as chief investment officer. Mr Lekander, previously head of investment strategy, will in his new role focus on the implementation of defined investment strategies for Aberdeen’s property funds.
Alessandro Bronda, current head of European research, will take over as chief investment officer and continue as Aberdeen’s prime spokesperson for all research matters in the property sector.
- Skandia has poached Francois Zagamé from Insight Investment to head its UK equity research team. Together with his team, Mr Zagamé will be responsible for researching and selecting managers for Skandia’s `equity portfolios. He will report to Tom Berger, head of investment research and open architecture.
- Pioneer Investments has poached Aon Consulting’s Swedish head Mats Langensjö to become its head of institutional business, Nordic region. The firm also plans to open an office in Stockholm. Mr Langensjö will report to Paul Price, global head of institutional.
Mr Price said: “This news is significant for two reasons. First, it is continued evidence of our commitment to further grow the reach and penetration of our growing institutional business; secondly, it is a real testament to the quality of our institutional credentials that a person of Mats’ quality and experience is backing our success.”
Mr Langensjö founded Aon Consulting in Stockholm when he joined the firm in 2004. Prior to that, he was executive director at Goldman Sachs in London. He said that he felt his job was finished at Aon after his ambition of building up a good consultant firm had been achieved. “I am delighted to be joining a leading global asset management firm which still has huge potential. Pioneer Investments is a large organization, but remains almost completely unknown in the Nordic region. I was ready for a new challenge and the attraction for me was that the Nordic region is almost completely untapped,” Mr Langensjö said.
